Read To Me Daily Semester 3Sample
2KINGS 11-12:
Yesterday's story in 2nd Kings was of Jehu, anointed on Elisha's orders, and who executed the Lord's vengeance on Ahab and his whole family, and even Ahab’s friends and the worshipers of Baal. However, after that, he still didn't follow the Lord, but continued the idolatry of Israel.
PSALM 128:
Today’s Song of Ascent, Psalm 128, has a similar theme about the Lord’s blessings for families as yesterday’s psalm.
JOHN 13a:
Jesus’ words often have a double meaning. An example was heard in yesterday’s reading in John 12 when He said, “when I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw everyone to myself.”
Let’s pray.
Lord Jesus, our Messiah, King, Savior, Shepherd, and loving older Brother: We praise You. It is true, like the guards sent to arrest You said, “No man has ever spoken like him.” You said of those who refused to believe and obey You, “The words I have spoken will be their judge.” How awesome and powerful are your words, that we are privileged to have now heard, and which we can hold in our Bibles. You have commanded here, “Everyone who believes in Me must not remain in the darkness.” Let us not be like some Jewish authorities, who simply because of the fear of being scoffed at did not talk openly about their believing in You. John sadly comments, “They loved human approval rather than the approval of God.” So today, Lord, may we walk in the light, and give us the courage to tell anyone that we believe in You.
