God's GraceSample
Imagine this:
You’re right in the middle of a new level of your favorite video game when your mom calls from the other room and tells you to clean your room. You’ve never gotten this far in the game, and you don’t want to stop, so you keep playing.
Several minutes later, your mom comes into the room. “I asked you to clean your room. Why are you still playing video games?” she asks.
“Oh. I didn’t hear you,” you say as you turn off the game.
What’s wrong with this story? If you say that you disobeyed, you’re right! If you say that you lied, you’re also right! Those two things are sins. Sin is doing, saying, or even thinking things that are wrong or bad. Sin is disobeying God. When we do things our way instead of God’s, or when we don’t do something we know we should, it’s sin.
So, what should you do when you sin? You may be tempted to just ignore it, but you’d be missing out on something big if you did that. You’d be missing out on forgiveness. Instead, admit you’ve done wrong and ask God to forgive you. The great news is that God promises to forgive every wrong thing we have done when we believe in His Son, Jesus!
Talk It Over:
How did the ducks in the video sin?
When was a time that you sinned? What did you do?
