SHE 31 - Woman Of ValourSample
The Proverbs 31 woman provides well for her family and those that she loves. She looks after those near to her and cares for those in need. She is to be praised for the way in which she provides. However, we know that all that she has comes from the greatest Provider.
“She finds wool and flax and busily spins it. She is like a merchant’s ship, bringing her food from afar. She gets up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household and plan the day’s work for her servant girls. She goes to inspect a field and buys it; with her earnings she plants vineyard. She is energetic and strong, a hard worker. She makes sure her dealings are profitable; her lamp burns late into the night.”
Consider: Paying forward God’s provision
Every good gift comes from God. James 1 v 17 tells us things: “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
God is the ultimate provider and all that we have comes from Him. He has given us the ability to work, make money and obtain resources so that we can provide for ourselves and for others. God always provides for his children, though it may not look how we expect it to. God’s provision often looks different to how we imagine it to be. The greatest gift that God has given us is in the life and death of His Son Jesus. The ultimate act of sacrifice and provision.
Context: Why bother?
Romans 12 v 11 tells us “Do not be lazy but work hard, serving the Lord with all your heart.” God is not a genie in a bottle that we can request wishes from. Yes, He provides for those that He loves but we must play our part too - working hard and stewarding what we have well. We honour God’s provision by the way in which we steward all that He’s given us and we in turn are able to provide for others out of what we have been given.
Over to you: Ask yourself…..
- Where have you been seen the provision of God in your life?
- Is there provision that you are in need of right now? What are you believing for?
- How are you providing for others out of the provision that God has given you?
About this Plan
Whilst the Proverbs 31 woman can so easily be seen as an intimidating list of characteristics we can’t measure up to, we believe that it an inspiration of all that God celebrates in His daughters. A woman not only to be revered but also celebrated and imitated. This plan is the overflow of Freedom Church's women's' ministry SHE.
