Illuminate: A 21-Day JourneySample
Day 6: Characteristics of an Illuminated Life
If you’re living an illuminated life that lets Christ’s light shine to the world, there are a few things that others should see. Take a second and read Galatians 5.16–26 before reading the reflection. As you read this passage, focus on what Scripture says your life should look like if led by the Holy Spirit.
Reflection
Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control—these are the calling cards of an illuminated life. Let’s be honest though, sometimes we’re not that patient and we could be a little bit kinder. It takes work! The Holy Spirit will guide you as the Scripture says. You still have to do your part though. A key point to remember is what you fill up on is what you will become.
- What are you filling up on? Negative people, degrading music, raunchy movies, etc.?
- Where/Who is your source?
- How can you go about ensuring that you are filling up on the right things?

About this Plan
Coming off a retreat or revival? What next? You and I are the church of Jesus Christ on earth today, the visible representation of an invisible God. We have the Holy Spirit living within us, and have been commissioned to shine (illuminate) his love in the midst of a dark world. But what does that mean? How did we get here? And what do we do with all of this? All good questions, and if you stick with us through this journey, we are confident that the Holy Spirit will open your eyes to the light within you that God intends to use to illuminate the world!
