Stay on Track! Paul's Letter to the Galatians

Ziua 13 din 25

Being wise or being foolish

O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified.” (Galatians 3:1)

The core of the Gospel is not a complex philosophical framework. In fact, to many, it sounds like pure foolishness. A God who becomes a man, allows Himself to be killed, and then rises from the dead? Surely you don't believe that, let alone build your life on the conviction that this crucified and risen Jesus is your King and Savior?!

Paul knows people prefer to hear a different, more 'educated’ message. Yet he stands firm and continues to preach about “Jesus Christ and Him crucified.” This is “a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,” (1 Corinthians 1:23), but this is and remains the life-saving truth.

Now that the Galatians no longer want to put that truth at the center, Paul says they are foolish, and while they may think of themselves as wise and prudent, their supposed wisdom blinds them to the truth.

Even today, Christians are often considered naive and ignorant, but it is incredibly arrogant to think that we humans would know better than the Lord God. “For the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” (1 Corinthians 1:25).

Where do you seek wisdom? And how does it relate to the message of the Bible?

Stay on Track! Paul's Letter to the Galatians

Paul wrote a letter to the Galatians because he was very concerned about their spiritual well-being. They were in danger of straying from the right path, and Paul goes to great lengths to keep them from that. His explanations and advice are still extremely relevant today!
