Such rich text today as we remember the establishment of The Passover, where God instructs the Israelites to take and prepare a lamb in a certain way, and then use the blood of the lamb to paint their door-frames so that the angel of death would pass over their houses, saving their firstborn from the final Egyptian plague. This “passing over” was not a result of works, but a gift of mercy, separating God’s chosen ones.

This Old Testament history of the first Passover plays such an important piece in the Easter story, setting the scene for the ultimate gift of grace to come, which was poured out on us by Christ’s work on the cross. The blood of the lamb saved from death. For those who know Him, Jesus gives life… He is our Passover lamb!
