So Be ItSample
When we pray, it’s common to come to the Father and make our requests known to Him, and simply hope that He will give us what we want. There is an important posture (not physical but spiritual) to have before we can properly come to God. Jesus prayed to His Father and said, “Lord of heaven and earth” (acknowledging His Dad’s control and rule over everything). He then acknowledged that the Father had hidden truth from some and revealed it to others (revealing His Father’s will). Now, we might wonder, “Why would God hide truth from someone?” The verse tells us, “For it was your good pleasure.” What does this mean? God has a will and a plan, and He will accomplish that plan according to His good pleasure. When we pray, we typically just ask God to give us what we want. This kind of posture brings God down to "a genie in a bottle.” We are coming before the Lord of Heaven and Earth and seeking His will for our lives. We must have a posture of submitting our desires and plans to His.
Lord, help me when I come to you in my hour of need, to be open to your plan for my life. I realize that sometimes my plan and your plan do not line up. Give me the eyes to see your plan for my life and to be happy in the purpose you are setting out before me. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen. And So Be It.
