A Seed of Hope During InfertilitySample
Profile of an Overcomer: The Shunammite woman was married and most likely a successful businesswoman. She had great respect for God.
She and her husband believed in and wanted to support the prophet Elisha in his ministry. They showed him immense hospitality—they renovated their home to make a room for Elisha to stay in whenever he was in town ministering.
Elisha was so impressed by their hospitality that he wanted to do something for them as a show of appreciation of all they had done for him. He asked his servant for a suggestion and the servant mentioned that the couple had no children.
When Elisha told the Shunammite woman that he had prayed for her to have a child, her response, in modern day terms, was, "Don't play with me; I've grieved for a child for too long." Elisha assured her that her season was coming and that she would have a son.
The Shunammite woman's respect for the Word of God spoken to her through Elisha, enabled her to enjoy the fruit of her hope and trust in God — she did conceive and give birth to a son.
Today's Takeaway: As working women in the business world, it's important to make time for the Word of God. This builds trust in His promises. Trust in His promises enables you to be PERSISTENT in standing on God's promises and to enjoy the manifestation of them.
Today's Hope-filled Affirmation: God blesses me through the wisdom and power of His Word.
