Jesus, I Need You Part 4Sample
QUIET MOMENT
How often do you feel totally alone in the midst of an attack from the enemy? But since we are adopted children of God, we are not alone. And we do not have to succumb to the enemy and his wiles. We can cry, Abba, Father!
GOING DEEPER
The Lord God Almighty, our Father, has given us tools with which to fight. Winston Churchill said, “We shall not fail or falter; we shall not weaken or tire . . . Give us the tools and we will finish the job.” God has given us the tools, and He will help us finish the job. As we stand with Him, He fights for us as Yahweh, our Divine Warrior (Deuteronomy 20:1-4)
The Tools for the Battle
Step One: PRAY. Call upon the name of the Lord. Read Psalm 46:1, Psalm 34:17, Psalm 69:33, and Psalm 116.
Step Two: REMEMBER. If you are a believer, the Spirit of God dwells within you. The Lord has literally given us himself. You are not alone! We have been given the power in Christ to resist the devil, put the flesh to death, and draw near to God. We are now free to follow the Spirit who now indwells us. How would remembering this help you the next time you are under spiritual attack?
Step Three: WIELD THE WORD OF GOD. Your Father has given you everything you need in His Word. Be well-prepared. Have enough Scripture ready. Also know exactly which evil you are most vulnerable to. How can some key Scriptures speak to that area?
REFLECTION AND PRAYER
Use your concordance or go to BibleGateway.com to search the Scriptures to find verses to help snuff out that sin and that old way of thinking. Memorize them, post them, carry them with you, and pray. Be ready to wield that sword!
TAKE THE TRUTH TO HEART AND BRING IT TO LIFE
Choose one truth from today and apply it to your heart. Take it with you throughout the day.
About this Plan
When the enemy comes against us, what can we do? How did Jesus handle being tempted in the wilderness? This is part four of eight in the "Jesus, I Need You" series by Thistlebend Ministries, focusing on drawing closer to Jesus. The plans in this series can be done in any order. See also "Jesus, I Need You" (companion prayer).
