Jesus, I Need You Part 4Sample

Jesus, I Need You Part 4

DAY 4 OF 6

QUIET MOMENT

Satan has plans to tempt us with earthly glory so that we may have eternal suffering later. He will try to use the temporal to rob you of the eternal. The Lord calls us to suffer on the slow path to holiness, with eternal glory later. The question is, to whom will we bow? Remember, we become what we worship (Psalm 115:1-8).

GOING DEEPER

It’s an age-old battle of good versus evil, eternal versus temporal, light versus darkness, truth versus a lie, humility versus pride. Satan was once a beautiful and powerful angel, but he succumbed to pride. You have what he wants, your allegiance to God, and he is fanatical in his scheming to find a way to get you to give your allegiance to him. He tries to make us doubt God’s character and trust him instead. He is a master con artist and illusionist. He knows what appealed to him; therefore, he knows what will appeal to you.

Today we will be collecting evidence to evaluate our enemy. We don’t want to focus on the dark side and glorify it in any way. But we want to understand our enemy so can be better prepared.

Read Ezekiel 28:11-19. Behind the references to the Prince of Tyre is the imagery of Satan’s rebellion.

Read Isaiah 14:9-19. This passage addresses the king of Babylon, symbolic of the archenemy of God’s people, Satan. What did Satan treasure in his heart?

What are the different ways Satan is described in 2 Corinthians 4:3-4, Ephesians 2:1-2, Revelation 12:7-10, and Revelation 20:7-10?

REFLECTION AND PRAYER

Now spend time in prayer listing the names of God* and praising Him for who He is. Affirm that the Lord we serve is far superior to this fallen angel.

TAKE THE TRUTH TO HEART AND BRING IT TO LIFE

Choose one truth from today and apply it to your heart. Take it with you throughout the day.

About this Plan

Jesus, I Need You Part 4

When the enemy comes against us, what can we do? How did Jesus handle being tempted in the wilderness? This is part four of eight in the "Jesus, I Need You" series by Thistlebend Ministries, focusing on drawing closer to Jesus. The plans in this series can be done in any order. See also "Jesus, I Need You" (companion prayer).
