Shine Like Stars: Devotions From Time of GraceSample
A Witness That Shines: God's stars value life
In spite of all the progress America has made in according civil rights to all people, there is still a dreadful bias against those with a 'diminished' quality of life. Sonograms now help mothers detect and abort unborn children who are projected to have disabilities. When the newborn son of columnist George Will was found to have Down syndrome, a hospital staffer asked him and his wife if they intended to take the baby home. In shock, they could only mumble that they thought that's what parents generally did.
Here is King David's view of the high value that God places on all human life: "You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made" (Psalm 139:13,14).
Your witness can speak for the speechless. Your words can give value to people considered disposable. Remember that in heaven these disabled folks will be your equal in every way. What will they say to you when you meet there? God's stars see God's handiwork in all people.
