30 Little Things: The Book of GenesisSample
Obedience to God's call.
If a friend of yours called you out of the blue, told you to stop doing whatever it is you are doing and go drive 12 hours to a place you have never heard of, would you do it or would you tell him: are you crazy?! Probably a friend's call is not apple-to-apple when it comes to God's call, but often times what God is calling us to do is bizarre and extreme. In Genesis 12, God told Abram (a man we later know as Abraham) to leave his country and his family behind and go to somewhere unknown. As we read this, we probably wonder what Abram was thinking at that time. But the amazing thing about Abram is that he did not even ask questions to God. The Bible did not say, 'Abram questioned God for hours until he was convinced to obey God'. Nope, that did not happen. What did happen was Abram departed as God had instructed. No questions asked, no arguments.
When God tells us to do something, do we do them right away or do we negotiate things with Him first? Let's learn from Abraham. Let's not question God, because He definitely knows what is best for us. Our job is to listen to His calls and obey them with a grateful heart, and surely God will bless us.
