Catalyst - Known: A 21-Day JourneySample
Day 2:
Key Passage: Romans 7.19
God knows everything about us. It’s crazy that the God of the universe knows what we’re thinking. If we’re honest with ourselves, it can be overwhelming. God hears that intense, internal dialogue we have about someone that really frustrates us. God knows about the junk in our lives. Today, we’ll read about the apostle Paul’s struggle with sin. Scholars differ as to whether Paul’s referring to his current experience or the time just before his conversion. Regardless, let’s dig in and we’ll find we have some things in common with Paul. Contemplating our sin can be like fingernails on a chalkboard. We don’t want to go there, but it makes Christ’s forgiveness and grace even more meaningful.
Main Passage: Romans 7.14-25
Reflection:
- How can you relate to Paul?
- How would you describe your battle with sin? What are your tendencies? Journal your thoughts.
- Identify a mature follower of Christ with whom you can share your battle.
- Thank the Holy Spirit for making you aware of your sin and for Jesus rescuing you from physical and spiritual death (vv. 24-25).
Tomorrow we’re going to look at what God has done for us in Christ in Romans 8.1-17.

About this Plan
As a team, it is our prayer that Catalyst would spark a life-changing encounter with Jesus that would continue well after the event. Let’s dive deeper into the Holy Scriptures with this reading plan developed with American Bible Society. You’re the fulfillment of answered prayers; a generation desiring to know God and to be known by him. It’s on that foundation alone that we believe we will change the world.
