What God Is Like

DAY 1 OF 5

God Is Love

The following verses and commentary were submitted by Lightgliders “Grace Cupcake Superstar” and “Faith Adventurous Marvel!”

Scripture reveals the grand story of God’s great love for his children. However, it’s helpful to know a few key verses to remind us that God is love and overflows with kindness.

  • I John 4:7-8 reveals the heart of God’s character. He is love, which is why we should love others.
  • Ephesians 4:32 tells us to be kind toward others because God has been so very kind to us.
  • Matthew 10:28-31 helps us put into perspective how much God loves us. If he loves the birds of the air, how much more does he love us, who are made in his image?
  • Psalm 23 is an anthem to cling to, helping us see that God’s love is tender and kind, just like a good shepherd watching over a flock.
  • And John 3:16 points us to the greatest truth of all, that God loves us so much that he gave Jesus to save us from sin and death.

Here are some things to do and think about today:

  • Read John 3:16. What did God do because of His love for the world?
  • Try to memorize Psalm 23! Break it down into smaller bits with the goal to have it memorized over the course of a week.

About this Plan

What God Is Like

Though God is incomprehensible, he is not unknowable. He reveals himself in three ways: • Through creation, from which his power and divine nature are on display (Romans 1:19-20) • Through the Scriptures, which he inspired to help us. (II Timothy 3:16-17) • Through Jesus Christ, who is the perfect revelation of his character (Hebrews 1:1-3) Kids known as Lightgliders submitted the following ways God has revealed himself to them.
