EquipHer Vol. 24: "Who’s Economy Are You Working For?"

DAY 1 OF 5

Day 1 – Scarcity to Abundance

We live in a society that preaches fear: fear of not having enough time, money, resources, space, or energy. Everything revolves around performance, quantity, and the constant chase for “more” that never truly satisfies. This is the scarcity mindset—and when we dwell in it long enough, we start believing it’s normal.

A scarcity mindset breeds anxiety, competition, and a need for control. However, an abundance mindset creates peace, trust, and a partnership with God, anchored in His divine design for us.

The scarcity mindset says: “There’s not enough for everyone, so I need to hurry,” but the abundance mindset says: “God has appointed the times and seasons for my life, and I am not late. I am exactly where I need to be.” Scarcity says: “I have to do everything on my own because no one understands it like I do,” while abundance says: “The Lord is my shepherd; I lack nothing” (Psalm 23:1 NIV).

Jesus Himself said, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10 NIV). This isn’t a vague promise—you were called to live fully, and that same abundance applies to your professional life too. In God’s economy, abundance doesn’t mean excess—it means fullness. It means knowing that every resource you need—vision, ideas, connections, strategies, courage, tools, finances—is found in Him. If God has entrusted you with a calling, He will not leave you without what’s needed to carry it out.

When we operate from an abundance mindset, we witness how God can abundantly bless, multiply, and provide in our lives and those around us. Even when our efforts seem small and irrelevant, when executed with faith and a passionate heart, there is nothing God can’t do.

Remember the miracle of the loaves and fish? (Matthew 14:13–21). Strategically, it looked like a lost cause: thousands of people, limited resources, no backup plan. But one boy offered what he had—little, yet everything. And that act sparked multiplication. This story shows us that, in the Kingdom of God, what matters isn’t how much you start with—it’s Who you entrust it to.

Reflective Questions:

  • What are you postponing in your work because you feel like you “don’t have enough”?
  • What if God is simply waiting for you to take a step of faith—so He can open the next door?

Prayer:
Lord, thank you for being my source—even on days when I feel like I’m lacking. Help me recognize the areas where I’m still thinking with a scarcity mindset and teach me to trust in Your divine provision. Grow my faith and help me believe that with You, I lack nothing. Amen.

About this Plan

EquipHer Vol. 24: "Who’s Economy Are You Working For?"

In today’s world—especially in business —value is often measured in numbers: money, statistics, followers, etc. This type of “currency” tends to breed competition, fear, and a scarcity mentality, however, there is good news. God operates with a different kind of currency. His economy is built on faith, love, justice, and generosity. In this devotional, we’ll explore how to spend God’s currency in our careers, allowing His values to transform our leadership, our decisions, and our definition of success.
