Faith

DAY 2 OF 9

In our evidence-obsessed world, faith can sound like a throwback—quaint at best, naïve at worst. But biblically, faith isn’t wishful thinking; it’s the firm decision to build your life on what’s trustworthy and unchanging. The Hebrew root “amen” captures it: reliability, firmness, truth you can stake your life on.

In the Old Testament, faith was never just a belief—it was lived out. To have faith meant to be faithful, to align your life with God’s truth. And this continues straight through to the New Testament: faith is inseparable from action. It’s not just a nod to doctrine; it’s obedience in motion.

Enter Abraham, Exhibit A of active faith. When God told him to leave everything familiar, Abraham didn’t just say, “Sounds good.” He packed up and went. His faith moved his feet. And that pattern repeats. Hebrews 11 lists a whole crew—Noah building an ark, Moses confronting Pharaoh, others facing lions and flames. Why? Because they believed God was more trustworthy than their fears.

Even Jesus hammered this point home. He rebuked “little faith” not because people had doubts, but because their doubts led to worry, not trust. He didn’t tell them to believe harder—He told them to seek God’s kingdom first, and live like God would take care of the rest.

James takes it a step further: “Faith without works is dead.” In other words, if your faith doesn’t show up in your decisions, it’s just noise. But here’s the twist—faith doesn’t depend on your effort. Its power lies not in how tightly you grip it, but in whom you’re gripping. Paul reminds us that even the ability to believe is a gift from God.

That truth is freeing. You don’t have to strain to believe more—you simply respond. You say “yes.” You trust. You obey, even when it’s uncomfortable. That’s what real faith looks like in the 21st century: making decisions based on God’s promises, not just on what’s safe or logical.

So what step is God inviting you to take? Faith isn’t about dramatic leaps—it’s about daily trust. One small “yes” at a time. And as you do, you just might witness God’s power unfold in your very ordinary, very sacred life.

About this Plan

Faith

Faith isn’t based on emotions or circumstances, but on a revelation of who God is. In this plan by David Campbell, discover how the Holy Spirit anchors our faith in God’s character and equips us to walk in His purpose. Even in uncertainty, God is more than enough.
