God Hears Every Prayer

DAY 4 OF 4

Learning Stories, Lifting Hearts

In the story Kaylee Prays for the Children of the World, Kaylee and her grandfather, Halbi, take active steps to learn about the world around them and pray together for those who are hurting. Each day they look through the newspaper together and add those they would like to pray for to their family prayer wall.

Kaylee returns to the kitchen and pins the photo to the world map on the family prayer wall. Kaylee and Halbi look together at the other photos they have saved of children from around the globe.

Kaylee and Halbi take time together each day to learn other people’s stories. When we learn about what's happening in the world around us, we are showing God’s love in a very special way. We are showing that we care about the things that God cares about. God cares about everyone, not just the people we know. When we hear about floods, earthquakes, or people who don't have enough food or clean water, we can show our care for them by praying.

The Bible tells us that we should “carry one another’s burdens.” Carrying each other's burdens isn't just about helping with physical things. It's about taking the things that worry or hurt others in the world and lifting those concerns up to God in prayer. This act of prayer becomes like a superpower—not the ability to fly or turn invisible—but the power to reach across the world and show God’s love to someone else through prayer.

When someone is feeling sad, worried, or having a tough time, it's like their heart feels heavy and weighed down. But when we pray for them, we help lift that heaviness to God and make things a little bit lighter.

What is one way you can learn someone else’s story today? Whose burden can you help carry today through prayer?

Prayer:

Dear God, thank you that our prayers can travel anywhere, even to places we can never visit ourselves. Make our hearts sensitive to the needs of people around us and around the world. Open our eyes to see the things happening in far-away places that need our prayers.

Activity:

Be a Prayer Detective! With an adult's help, look at a news website or watch a news program for kids. Find one situation in the world that needs prayer. Draw a picture about it and lift that situation up to God in prayer every day this week.

About this Plan

God Hears Every Prayer

Come along on an inspiring journey about faith, empathy, and the power of prayer. When Kaylee sees a photo of a sad boy from far away, she begins to wonder, "Does God really care?" This heartfelt story gently guides children to recognize the brokenness in our world and to turn their hearts to God with the assurance that he hears every prayer―even when words feel hard to find.
