DAY 5 OF 5

Day 5: Scars Tell a Story

Devotion:

Your scars—both visible and invisible—are not the end of your story, rather, they are a powerful testimony of God’s grace, power, and ability to redeem. Each scar represents a moment when God met you in your weakness and brought you through it, proving His sufficiency.

In Beautifully Scarred, I share how my physical and emotional scars became a platform to declare that I’ve overcome through God’s goodness and faithfulness. What once felt like shame has turned into a symbol of victory, courage, and purpose. Similarly, your scars—whether from loss, failure, illness, or heartbreak—are part of a greater story God is writing in your life. They are proof that God can use even the most painful parts of our journey for His glory and that the road will lead to victory.

Reflection:

Take a moment to reflect on a painful experience or challenge God has brought you through, leaving you with a scar. Perhaps it was a time of deep loss, where God eventually brought healing, or a season of doubt, where His presence strengthened your faith. Just as I now view my scars as a map of God’s faithfulness, your story—however imperfect or unfinished—will ultimately reflect His goodness. Remember, He is with you every step of the way, even when He feels distant. Through perseverance, your scars can bring hope and healing to others.

Action Step:

Spend time writing down one key lesson God has taught you through a difficult experience. Be specific about how His grace was sufficient for you in that moment. Then, pray and ask Him to show you how your story can be a source of encouragement and inspiration to someone else who may need to hear it. Trust that God can use your scars as a reminder of His power made perfect in weakness.

Prayer for the Week:

Heavenly Father, thank You for walking with me through the valleys of pain, fear, and brokenness. Help me to see the beauty in my scars and trust in Your power to heal and restore. Give me the courage to persevere, the strength to conquer fear, and the hope to share my story with others. Amen.

About The Author

Born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate in the mountains of Guatemala, Camey beat all odds and survived.

In a journey marked by sacrifice, love, and divine intervention, she underwent twenty-three surgeries in America, each one a testament to her unwavering spirit and the power of perseverance.

From the uncertainty of her early years, where doctors doubted her ability to speak clearly, to her present-day travels around the world as a speaker and singer, Camey’s story is a powerful testament to the transformative power of faith and love.

She doesn’t just serve God through her music and words, she also serves in her job as a nurse, touching lives with her message of hope. Because of God’s love and miracles, she has a full life with her three boys—Ethan, Caleb, and Eli—and her husband, Nate. She finds immense joy in the Bible and hopes her journey will inspire others to show their scars and find strength, healing, and freedom in their vulnerability.
