DAY 2 OF 6

What’s With All the Translations?

Guess what? The Bible wasn’t originally written in English. It was written in ancient Hebrew and Greek—and a little bit of Aramaic, too. Can you read those languages? Probably not. Thankfully, the Bible has been translated into many modern languages so that people can understand it. So, which translation is best for you to read? Great question! Watch this for some help.

There are lots of translations to choose from. Start with one that’s easier to understand like the NIV, NLT, or NIRV translations. When it comes to style, think about how you learn best. Choose a Bible with pictures in it or one you can journal and color in. (See the Super Cool Tips below for even more helpful ideas!)

Challenge: Today’s Bible reading is from another well-known and well-loved part of the Bible. It’s part of a message Jesus preached called, “The Sermon on the Mount.” The challenge for you is to read it not just once, but several times, choosing a different translation each time. Which one will be easiest for you to understand? Which one will you like the most?

Super Cool Tips: Is reading a challenge for you? The Bible App has you covered! Click on the speaker button and you can listen to the Bible read to you. Or, try using a special font that makes reading easier for people with dyslexia. Tap the font button (AA) in your reader, select the font list, and choose the font called “OpenDyslexic.”

Pray: God, thank You for being with me as I choose a translation of the Bible to learn from. It’s so amazing that I get to learn from You in such a special way. As I spend time with Your Word today, help me to find something I can live out. In Jesus’ name, amen.
