Spiritual WarfareSample

It’s a War Zone
Do you ever think about spiritual warfare? About the war zone your soul woke up to and walked into this morning? About the cosmic battle between God and the devil over the state of your faith? Maybe. Or maybe you thought today was just . . . life. A randomly good (or not so good) spiritual day.
According to the Bible, because you have a soul that God loves and the devil wants, today is much more than that. It is a war zone of obedience or indulgence, of holiness or rebellion, of exalting God or minimizing his glory. This battlefield is where you pick up your Bible or you don’t, where you remember to pray or forget, where you share your faith or keep the good news to yourself, where you serve your neighbor or just keep serving yourself. All of that, every spiritual victory or defeat, is a result of the very real war zone that you live in.
The apostle Paul opens our eyes to the reality of this war when he writes, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12).
It’s hard to win a war when you don’t realize you are in one. Pray today that God would open your eyes to the evil around you and that through the impenetrable armor of Jesus’ love he would help you fight this good fight and stand firm in your faith!
