God's Faithfulness

DAY 7 OF 7

You Can Depend on Him

Psalms of ascent were sung as the people of Israel were on their way to Jerusalem for the annual religious pilgrimage. They are songs that covered all sorts of matters where the people could cry out to God seeking mercy, with requests, and with praise, knowing that He heard them.

Psalm 130 shows us that even in the darkest places, God is faithful. He can be waited on and we can be confident that He hears and will respond. We may not be sure when that response comes, but as a watchman is posted on the watchtower, waiting for the new day, knowing the sun will come, the response from God will come.

Verse 5, ‘I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope’, is a personal testimony of the writer who has put his hope in God and not been disappointed. He encourages Israel to put their hope in the Lord whose love is unfailing and through Him there is full redemption.

We too proclaim confidence in the Lord. He is faithful, His timing is right, we are His people, and we can put our hope in His Word.
