Help I Need DisciplineSample

Discipline in relationships is needed to have a God connection. Emotions have never been given the permission to be a foundation in a believer’s life. Since this is the case in order to have a thriving and healthy relationship you must build on the disciplines found in the word. Godly actions such as love, honor, respect, patience, and forgiveness must be cultivated through discipline. I always say that most relationships are one disagreement away before they are over. Simply because they are loose with commitment. Commitment requires a level of maturity and understanding of purpose. Understanding purpose will force you to be disciplined. We must have discipline in place to fight for the people that are in our lives. Romans 12:10 reminds us to "be devoted to one another in love" and to "honor one another above yourselves."

In order to prioritize others and show respect and devotion, even when it requires personal sacrifice requires discipline. This selfless attitude mirrors Christ's example. When we love people like Christ, we are bound to be hurt by someone but cannot allow it to control our disciplines. I understand it is tough at times; however, I always want to experience God's best, and unforgiveness can hinder the blessings of the Lord. By practicing forgiveness, we release bitterness and create space for reconciliation and healing in our relationships.

Real love, as described in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, demands discipline. 4 Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; 6 it does not rejoice at wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. 7 Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.

Cultivating such love requires humility, restraint, and the intentional decision to place the well-being of others above our pride or emotions. Discipline fosters healthier relationships by encouraging thoughtful responses rather than impulsive reactions. It helps to create an environment where understanding and reconciliation thrive.

Prayer:

Father, I choose to be disciplined in my relationships by choosing to love, respect, forgive, and be patient over selfishness and pride. Please help me to be intentional and self-controlled, rooted in your word, and empowered by your Spirit. Lord, I commit to reflecting on your character and will testify of your transformative power in my life. In Jesus' Name!
