Financial Discipleship – the Bible on Idolatry

DAY 1 OF 5

Sometimes, we can turn on the news and get the latest on the famous.

Who’s getting married, who’s starring in a new role, who bought a mansion and for how much…

These celebrities. Everywhere they go, everything they say and everything they do … we know about. If only we paid this much attention to God.

Many of us have most likely thought that, when God commanded us not to worship false idols, He meant statues of other gods. That could be because most of us associate the word “worship” with its first definition: to honor or show reverence for as a divine being or supernatural power. The second definition, however, is to regard with great or extravagant respect, honor, or devotion.

So, who or what are we devoting ourselves to? What do we care about in this generation? What commands our attention every day? What do we value most? What do you want more and more of (Colossians 3:5)? Who comes first in our life? Where do we choose to go first during our free time? The answers to these questions may be our idols.

Over these next few days, we’ll explore how to put God first, and how to prioritize everything—and everyone—else.

About this Plan

Financial Discipleship – the Bible on Idolatry

The Bible has a lot to say about idolatry. In the 21st century, there are many things competing with God for our attention and worship. This 5-day plan will help readers gain a biblical understanding and perspective of idolatry, apply it to their lives, and prepare them to share this learning with others.
