Every plan needs a good foundation. Understanding the difference between your old life and the new one will help you hold tightly when the storms of life come your way.

The first step in your walk with Jesus is PEACE. Did you know the Bible tells us that before receiving Jesus, we are enemies of God? Our sin is a wall between us and God. Why? Because God is holy and we are not. No peace.

Enter Jesus. He is God’s rescue plan. Jesus, who is God, lived a sinless life. He was always One with God. Never separated. Why is that important? Since Jesus had no sin, He could take the punishment for our sin as a substitute. Stop! Think about that. The Innocent for the guilty. Unfathomable!

The Bible tells us the punishment for our sin is spiritual death (hell) and, without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness. God took our sin and put it on righteous Jesus. Then, He took Jesus’ perfect righteousness and credited it to us, making us free from the penalty of sin we deserve.

We did not earn this great salvation, nor did we deserve it. God gave it to us as a free gift. Once we say yes to Jesus, all our sin is forgiven and removed. We have peace with God. We are no longer enemies!

As you build your spiritual disciplines, let thankfulness for God’s unspeakable gift permeate your heart. It will help you stay on track.

…do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
