Day 1: The Blessing of Identity in Christ

As women, it’s easy to feel like marriage is the ultimate blessing from God. Society, the media, and even well-meaning family members often make marriage seem like the pinnacle of fulfillment. Yet, God’s blessings for us go far beyond just marriage. Our true identity is found in Christ alone. When we are in Christ, our worth is not tied to our relationship status but to who we are as beloved daughters of God. We are cherished by the Creator, who sees us as fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).

Take Ruth, for example. After the death of her husband, she chose to remain faithful to her mother-in-law, Naomi, even though it meant remaining single. Ruth didn’t let her marital status define her. Instead, she trusted God and followed His plan for her life. God, in His perfect timing, brought her into the lineage of Jesus, a story that wouldn’t have unfolded the same way had she been focused on her circumstances. Ruth’s story teaches us that God has a greater purpose for us than what we might see in the present.

The apostle Paul, too, serves as an example of finding contentment in Christ without marriage. In 1 Corinthians 7, he talks about the benefits of singleness, explaining that when we are single, we can devote ourselves fully to the Lord's work. God values you not for your relationship status but for your heart and your devotion to Him. Remember, you are a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17), and your value comes from Him, not from the world.

Prayer:
Lord, help me to find my true identity in You. I thank You for making me fearfully and wonderfully, and for loving me unconditionally. Help me to remember that my worth comes from being Your daughter, not from any relationship status. Teach me to embrace all the blessings You have for me, knowing that I am complete in You. Amen.
