Praying for Teen Girls: Partnering With God for the Heart of Your DaughterSample

Lord, may she seek what is true.

Believing lies will lead our girls (and us) to be easy targets for the enemy to tempt us to sin (1 Peter 5:8–10). This is simply the truth of what we are fighting for on our knees for our teen girls. It is a messy world. Truth that is accepted apart from God’s Word is relative. Everyone gets to decide on their version of it for their own little manufactured worlds. You do you. I do me. We all get to do what we think and believe is true. Guess where that has landed our girls? I’m sure you don’t need me to answer that question.

Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:31–32). This prayer, that our teen girls will seek what is true, is a prayer for our teen girls to be anchored in the Word, to live with discernment, and to walk obediently in truth that will truly set them free.

Remember, you have solid, anchoring hope too because you have access to God through prayer. He has invited us to approach Him boldly and make our requests (see Hebrews 4:16). Can you imagine praying this prayer with the authority of God’s Word? Can you see your teen girl truly free? She won’t need to play games of lies and truth. She will find her great reward in the One who is the way, truth, and life. And His words will be sweeter than honey and her great reward.

Keep praying. Don’t stop.

A prayer based on Psalm 86:11:

Father, teach _____________ your way so she may walk and live in truth. There are so many distractions in this world; I pray she will have an undivided heart that will be in awe of your great name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A prayer based on 2 Corinthians 10:5:

Father, I pray that _____________ will understand that the battle she is facing is spiritual at every level. May she be able to recognize, capture, and tear down every lie contrary to the knowledge of God. In Jesus’ name, Amen
