Praying for Teen Girls: Partnering With God for the Heart of Your Daughter

DAY 3 OF 5

Lord, pursue her heart.

Teen girls are having a cultural moment. Clad in pink and flocking to the movie theater, they have embraced their inner Barbie and launched her dreamhouse world to the top of the box office mountain. Coming-of-age series on Prime Video tell us how normal it is to go from barely noticeable to the prettiest girl in the breath of a summer. And unless you’ve been living on Mars, you have surely noticed them dancing, posting, and raising their friendship bracelet hands while Taylor Swift (a teen sensation herself some years ago) sings her way across the world, packing stadiums and single-handedly influencing the economy to the tune of billions of dollars in revenue.

And yet, teen girls are also in crisis. According to a recent study published by the CDC, teen girls are facing a mental health epidemic and faring much worse than their teen boy counterparts. The numbers are startling. They don’t seem to match what we see every day when we pick up our phones unless, of course, you are close to a teen girl or several. You most likely aren’t shaking your head at all at news like this.

As the mother of at least one teen girl for the past decade myself, I can tell you these numbers tell a story no mother wants to hear or witness. This is not easy. I want to encourage you as you pray for your teen girl to focus first on her heart. It is worth fighting for. I don’t know about you, but I need hope amid the hard data that girls today are struggling to put one foot in front of the other. I need a reminder that Jesus isn’t unaware and that I can partner with Him and pray for my teen girl’s heart

Keep praying. Don’t stop.

A prayer based on Isaiah 54:10:

Father, your love for _____________ does not walk away; it never fails, and it can’t be removed. I pray your unshakable love, and your promise of peace will permeate her entire life. In Jesus name, Amen.

A prayer based on John 3:16:

Father, thank you that you so loved _____________ that you gave her your one and only Son. I pray she will trust in you so that she will not lose her life but instead have one that is whole and everlasting. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Praying for Teen Girls: Partnering With God for the Heart of Your Daughter

The teen years are an emotional roller coaster in your daughter's life, rife with new difficulties, insecurities, temptations, and attitudes.
