The Validation of Jesus as Messiah

After Jesus laid down the foundational teachings of the kingdom of God and what it means to be His disciple, it was followed by miraculous healings and deliverances.

There was the Roman officer’s servant healed from a distance by Jesus just “saying the word.” A widow’s dead son was raised to life while still in a coffin.

Jesus Himself validated His messiahship when telling John, the Baptist’s disciples: “The blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised and the good news is preached.”

Jesus challenged the pride of the Pharisees by forgiving the sins of a prostitute.

He taught truths in parables that contrasted God’s ways vs. man’s. He overcame nature by commanding a raging storm to be silent, followed by the deliverance of a man imprisoned by a legion of demons.

At just the touch of His robe, a woman who suffered from constant bleeding for 12 years was healed. A grieving father was filled with hope and joy when Jesus raised Jairus’ daughter from the dead.

It’s no wonder the reaction to Jesus was amazement, curiosity, skepticism, puzzlement and mostly, fear! Why fear? Because anyone who could disrupt life like this, can become a threat to those who are happily content in their comfort zone. It can be an unwanted, unwelcome recognition that life is not under our control but His.
