Conquering the Fear of Sharing Your FaithSample
Where did this fear come from?
The Bible addresses two types of fear: the beneficial fear of the Lord and the harmful fear that hinders us. In 2 Timothy 1:7, the Apostle Paul contrasts the 'spirit of fear' with a spirit of power, love, and self-discipline: “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” This indicates that the fear which holds us back from evangelism does not come from God. As one insightful commentator observed, "Fear is one of the many tactics Satan uses to silence us."
Identify: Reflect on which of the three common fears—insufficient knowledge, fear of failure, or fear of rejection—resonates most with you.
Reflect: Consider how you might begin to address this fear in your daily life. For example, how can relying on the Holy Spirit help you overcome your fear of sharing about Jesus?
Father God, I pray against any fear that may prevent me from sharing Your message of hope. Help me to build my confidence and trust in You as I face these fears. Remind me of Your support and love every day. Amen.
