Conquering the Fear of Sharing Your FaithSample
Understanding Fear in Evangelism
What does evangelism mean to you? Sometimes, we overcomplicate it, thinking it's a task reserved for pastors, preachers, youth leaders, or missionaries. But what does the Bible actually say about evangelism and who it's for?
Evangelism is simply sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with others. It involves not only speaking about the gospel but also living it out through our actions and lifestyle. In His final words to His followers, Jesus commanded everyone to join in the Great Commission - making disciples and sharing the gospel. This call wasn't just for church leaders but for each of us.
Fear can often hold us back from sharing the gospel. Today, reflect on the commandment to be courageous in spreading God's word. Consider any fears or uncertainties you have about sharing your faith. Despite these fears, trust in God's promise to be with you. When opportunities arise to share the hope you have in Christ, respond with gentleness and respect.
Wondering where to start? In today's world, there's a saying: "What fills the heart, spills out through the tongue." Jesus Himself said, "For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks" (Matthew 12:34). In other words, we naturally talk about what we're passionate about, what we love, and what we constantly think about. We're always "evangelising" about what is sacred to us. If Christ is truly at the center of our lives, He will naturally flow into our conversations. So, fill your heart with Christ, and let that overflow in your interactions with others.
