DAY 7 –LEAVING A LEGACY

You made it to Day 7. Yay!! I’m so elated that you stayed with me to finish this devotional. It’s not always easy to tackle financial issues while trying to discuss them in a manner that isn’t critical and doesn’t offend folks. But, even if you did become a tad bit upset with me, it’s obvious you want a change and that is why you stuck with it to completion. So, let’s get into today’s topic.

I don’t know about you, my friend, but I am an online shopper. As a matter of fact, I was an online shopper prior to COVID-19. As a former educator in the public school system, I didn’t have a lot of extra time, especially during the school year. So, for me, online shopping just made sense. But let me be transparent and tell you, BEWARE, because online shopping can get you into TROUBLE if you’re not careful. Late-night virtual shopping trips were one of my pitfalls. I was purchasing items I really didn’t need and becoming a horrible steward. Money that I could have been saving or using as The Lord directed, I was spending foolishly. Okay, I was honest with you; now, I want you to be honest with yourself. What are some of your unhealthy habits that you recognize you need to work on? But wait, don’t just identify them, pray and ask God to help you work on them. Remember, you cannot change and better yourself in any area where you are unwilling to acknowledge a problem exists.

Faithfulness to all of the things we discussed in this devotional will help you to create an over-sufficiency. You will have more than enough, but the double-edged question I want you to meditate upon is, what are you going to do with your surplus? I need you to make sure you have a clear mind and a prepared response to this inquiry because the enemy will present the things we love and push them right before our eyes in the form of a SALE, OR A REWARD FOR ALL OF OUR HARD WORK, OR A NEED THAT WE JUST CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT! This is truly where honesty with yourself is vital. I personally was complaining that I didn’t have any money to spare when the reason why I didn’t have extra funds is because I was making unwise choices. You see, this is called a stay-in-the-same-boat, poverty-stricken mentality. But Galatians 5:1 informs us to stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. I did not want to close without us delving into this particular topic because I don’t want you to experience real financial progress, only to find yourself right back in the same position in a few years.

As Christians, we believe that our Heavenly Father loves us and has given us the power to get wealth, but we realize that this wealth is more than money. Leaving a legacy that is passed down to our children’s children is also about building a spiritual legacy and teaching our family members healthy habits. We will not allow one more generation to be destroyed due to a lack of knowledge. We will educate ourselves and our family members and we will become dedicated to moving from a life of lack to Kingdom abundance!
