Sorry Not SorrySample

We all know that true healing takes time, right? We may be able to say the words, “I forgive you,” to a person who has committed wrong against us, but to truly move on from the hurt is something else. To know that the wound from the harsh word or blind-sided betrayal is completely gone is a bigger challenge. That involves a timeframe that is going to look completely different from person to person. And that healing is not only going to take time but it’s also going to take work. While we may wish that one day we would magically wake up free from any bitterness or anger, it’s probably not a realistic hope. Healing often takes more effort on our part than we would like. Eventually, the process itself can start to feel a little exhausting. It’s almost like we don’t have the energy it takes to heal and move on from our hurt. Knowing we’re called to the harder process of healing doesn’t make it any easier. Instead, as believers, we know that we can lean on the strength that comes from Jesus Christ. We aren’t meant to handle all our confusing emotions and hurt on our own, but we can give them over to the One who can hold all of it and more.
What do you need to hand over to Jesus today? If it helps, take a minute to make a list of hurts and grudges you may need God to take from you while you work through the process of healing.

About this Plan

Forgiveness feels like something that we know we should do, but it isn’t always something we actually do. We all sometimes find it hard to live out forgiveness in our everyday lives. It’s hard to find a way to let go, but what if there is a way to let go and forgive? In this devotional, we’ll look at the way forgiveness can work in our lives to move us toward freedom for ourselves and others.
