Five Simple Steps for an Extraordinary New YearSample
Ask For Help
One of the most important things we can ever learn to do is to ask for help when we need help. So often, our pride keeps us from seeking the help we need. We hate to even admit to ourselves that we need assistance, much less let anyone else know about it. Many people live lives of quiet desperation yet never seek wisdom and counsel from others. We are surrounded by many people, often by many who love us deeply, yet live solitary lives when it comes to the things we struggle with. It is important to ask for help from those who can truly help, and God should be at the top of that list.
In Micah 6:6, the question is asked how to come before the Lord to seek Him appropriately. There are various ways in which it is considered how to approach God with our needs. What must we do to come before Him and seek Him for what we need? Are there specific offerings that must be presented and certain postures to be assumed? Are there sacrifices that are required? How do we, as needy, even as sinful people, come to ask God for how to live our lives?
The answer given at the beginning of verse 8 implies the truth that we read in Isaiah 65:24, where God says, "Before they call, I will answer." God's willingness to answer is greater than our willingness to ask! Let this new year be a year in which we ask the Lord for His wisdom, truth, strength, and help. To have an exceptional New Year, ask early, ask often, and ask for help when help is needed.
