We Grow: A Journey of Drawing Closer to God

DAY 114 OF 365

Day 114 of 365

In 1 Samuel 4, Israel attempts to use the Ark of the Covenant as a means of control, misunderstanding that God’s power isn’t subject to manipulation. True faith doesn’t seek to control God; it surrenders to His will. The Holy Spirit calls us to let go of any sense of entitlement and approach God with humility, trusting in His sovereignty rather than our agendas.

In Luke 18, Jesus shares the parable of the persistent widow, teaching us the value of perseverance in prayer. The Spirit reminds us that persistence isn’t about forcing God’s hand; it’s an act of faith, trusting God’s timing and character. Our perseverance reflects our belief that He hears us and is faithful to respond.

Today, invite the Spirit to deepen your persistence in prayer. Release any expectations of control and instead approach God with trust, knowing He works all things for our good. Let your heart align with His will, persevering with the confidence that He is faithful to answer in His perfect timing.

About this Plan

We Grow: A Journey of Drawing Closer to God

We Grow: A Journey of Drawing Closer to God is a 365-day Bible reading plan led by Bishop Gary Lewis, the General Overseer of the Church of God. The plan is designed to deepen your faith and understanding of God’s Word. Each day begins with a short devotional, followed by carefully curated Scripture readings, and concludes with the S.O.A.P. exercise—Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. Through this plan, you’ll grow in biblical literacy, discover God’s mercy and purpose, and learn to partner with Him in His Kingdom work.
