Wives Who Win for Christ: Influencing Your Unsaved Husband Through Discipleship by Dr. Treal Ravenel

DAY 5 OF 6

Day 5: Live the Same in Private as You Do in Public

Matthew 5:16 "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven”

Authenticity is key in living out your faith. In Matthew 5:16, we are called to let our light shine before others. This means that how you live your life privately should reflect your faith publicly. Your husband needs to see the same love, kindness, and grace at home that you demonstrate to others.

You might find it challenging to maintain consistency, especially during stressful times. Yet, when you choose to embody Christ’s love in all situations, you create an environment that fosters trust and openness. Your husband will notice the difference, prompting him to consider what fuels your faith.

In your endeavor to emulate Christ’s love, it is crucial to fight the inclination to feel entitled or condescending towards your husband’s spiritual path. Instead, approach your relationship with humility, patience, and genuine love, allowing your actions to speak volumes about your faith.

Application:

Reflect on a moment when you realized your personality did not match your private behavior. Perhaps you’ve been short-tempered during stressful times at home, even while presenting a calm demeanor to friends. One day, you decide to make a conscious shift. You commit to treating your husband with the same kindness and respect you show to others.

When he notices this change, it sparks a conversation. “You’ve been different lately,” he says, genuinely curious. You share with him that you’re striving to embody the love of Christ in all areas of your life. This authenticity encourages him to open up about his own struggles and beliefs, creating an opportunity for deeper dialogue about faith and integrity.

By living authentically, you not only reflect God’s love but also create a safe space for your husband to explore his own faith journey, fostering a relationship built on trust and understanding.

Devotional Reflection:

Reflect on the areas of your life where you can align your private and public behavior with your faith. How can living authentically influence your husband’s view of Christianity?

Practical Steps:

1. Identify areas in your life where you can be more consistent in living out your faith.

2. Share your journey of authenticity with your husband, inviting him to discuss what faith means to both of you.

3. Demonstrate Christ’s love in every interaction, making faith visible in your actions.

Closing Prayer:

"Lord, help me to live authentically for You, both at home and in public. May my life reflect Your love and draw my husband closer to You. Amen."
