Following Jesus in Nursing: A Daily Devotional for CaregiversSample

Take one minute, and breathe in and out slowly. Ask Jesus to make his presence known to you. What has Jesus promised you that is difficult to believe?
Sometimes, we can come to scripture, read a passage, and respond, “Yeah, right!” I know I have felt that way! What I read in scripture seems too good to be true. Maybe it is a passage that promises God will answer our prayer or be near to us, but that has not been our experience of God. How Jesus answers prayers or how we experience his presence may be different than our expectations. These differing expectations can cause us to doubt God and his word. I can feel disappointed of like God doesn’t care. I have to Sift through my expectations and hold them before Jesus in prayer. I need to ask him what he is doing when I don’t see it! This practice will help us align our expectations with God’s unwavering love and support. –Grateful for you, Jen
What would it look like for you to “take him at his word” and trust in his authority? Pray and ask God to reveal his authority and help you do so today as a caregiver to others.
Dear Jesus, thank you for your care for me. Help me feel you with me today. Help me care well for others today in your strength. Amen
