Following Jesus in Nursing: A Daily Devotional for CaregiversSample
Take one minute, and breathe in and out slowly. Ask Jesus to make his presence known to you. Listen and ask for the Holy Spirit to lead you to love your patients. Ask the Holy Spirit to bring to mind situations around you that need comfort and peace. Pray for these situations.
Have you ever interacted with a patient and thought, “This person is unloveable!” It’s easy, especially when we rely on our strength to love the unloveable. Jesus says he is leaving the Holy Spirit to give us what we need. The Holy Spirit brings comfort and peace and enables us to love others. My family can tell on the days that I skip my time with Jesus. I am quickly frustrated and often short with them and others. Rely on the Holy Spirit daily to provide you with what you need. –Grateful for you, Jen
Ask God to use each of you to provide peace and comfort to a hurting, afraid, and anxious patient today. Listen for a minute in silence to what the Holy Spirit says about who God is sending you to comfort.
Dear Jesus, thank you for your care for me. Help me feel you with me today. Help me care well for others today in your strength. Amen
