“And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.” (Luke 21:34)
Jesus warns His disciples in this verse to be vigilant and not allow the distractions of the world to take away from what God wants to do in their lives. He speaks about the dangers of overindulgence and the pursuit of worldly pleasures and concerns, which can cause us to lose sight of our relationship with God.
In our busy lives, it's easy to get caught up with work, relationships, and materialism. The cares of this life can overwhelm us, making it hard to focus on the eternal.
