“And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's.” (Luke 20:25)

When Jesus made this statement, He was addressing a question about paying taxes, but His response goes far deeper than political obligations. He reminds us that while we may have duties to earthly authorities, our ultimate loyalty belongs to Him. The coin in the story bore Caesar’s image, but our lives bear the image of God. Everything we are and everything we have ultimately belongs to Him.

With this in mind, are we offering Him our time, our talents, our worship, and our obedience? Or do we hold back, reserving those things for ourselves or for our own worldly pursuits? What part of your life might you need to “render unto God” today? Take time today to recognize God’s rightful place in your life. Give Him what He deserves—your whole heart, your devotion, and your trust.
