Legacy of Faith- Hebrews 11

DAY 9 OF 14

“Hold to the Promise”

“These all died in faith . . .” —Hebrews 11:13

I remember listening to Keith Moore, and he shared something that has stayed with me. He said, “So often, we talk about living by faith, but we don’t talk about dying in faith.” I don’t think we fully understand that, as children of God, we actually live forever. Jesus said in John 11:25-26, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, HE SHALL LIVE. And whoever lives and believes in Me SHALL NEVER DIE.” So, as believers, we need to fully embrace and be fully persuaded that we will live forever.

We must understand that faith in God sustains us. The word “sustains” means to strengthen or support physically or mentally. Faith is a spiritual force that enables you to walk through any adversity. In Hebrews 11:13-16, we see that those who went before us held onto promises and had a vision for where they were going. They were fully assured and persuaded, and they understood that earthly things were not their focus. Ultimately, they were seeking a heavenly home. They knew there was something greater ahead of them; their faith caused them to move forward and not return to what they had left behind because they saw what God could do and where He could take them.

I want to encourage you today to release your faith and move forward with what God has for you. Release your faith, keep your eyes on Him, and remember that as we go through life here on Earth, we are just passing through. Faith is something we will use not only here but throughout eternity. As we conclude today’s devotion, the end of verse 16 reminds us that faith pleases God. It tells us that God is not ashamed to be called our God; He takes ownership of us! He has prepared and made ready for us a city and a heavenly home with Him where we will rule and reign for eternity.

About this Plan

Legacy of Faith- Hebrews 11

Faith is more than a term—it’s essential to our Christian life. It’s not a sermon, denomination, or movement. Romans 1:17 and Galatians 3:11 remind us that "the just shall live by faith." Hebrews 11:1 also teaches, "Without faith, it is impossible to please Him." As children of God, we must cultivate and strengthen our faith. Over the next 14 days, Pastor Justin Bridges will lead us through Hebrews 11, showing us how to apply faith in our lives and how to live victoriously by faith, just like those heroes of faith who went before us.
