Legacy of Faith- Hebrews 11

DAY 12 OF 14

“Fulfilling Purpose”

“By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the king’s command.”—Hebrews 11:33

When we talk about a life of faith, we must understand that as we go through life, there are choices we have to make. We can either choose to walk in fear or choose to walk in faith. We can choose love, or we can choose hate. Faith is found in our choices, and it is through choosing that we fulfill our purpose. While I was preaching one Sunday morning, this phrase came from my heart, and I see its truth throughout Scripture: faith is found in our choices, and it is through our choices that blessings and favor flow.

As we look at these verses in Hebrews 11, a few things capture my attention. Often, we focus on the faith of Moses, and rightly so; we will discuss that. But in verse 23, what about the faith of Moses’ parents? It tells us that his parents hid him for three months, unafraid of the king’s command. Moses’ parents did not hide him out of fear; they hid him for a purpose. So faith was found in their choice, and through their choice, they became instruments that God used to set His people free.

As we continue through this section of Scripture, we see that Moses also made a choice. He refused to be called a son of Pharaoh, no longer identifying with the wealth and favor he had in Egypt. He chose to pursue God’s plan and purpose for his life, valuing God’s purpose more than anything Egypt could offer. Thus, “faith was found in his choosing.” Not only did he highly esteem the reproach of Christ, but he also looked to the reward—the fulfillment of God’s purpose for his life and His plan to deliver God’s people.

Today, realize that you were created for a purpose, and that purpose is fulfilled through the choices you make throughout your life. Like Moses, choose to see God’s plan for your life as greater than what this world can offer. There are always rewards on the other side of your choice to obey. My prayer for you, as you pursue God and live a life of faith, is that you will find yourself right in the middle of God’s plan for your life, because, after all, faith is found in your choices, and it is through your choices that God’s blessing and favor flow.

About this Plan

Legacy of Faith- Hebrews 11

Faith is more than a term—it’s essential to our Christian life. It’s not a sermon, denomination, or movement. Romans 1:17 and Galatians 3:11 remind us that "the just shall live by faith." Hebrews 11:1 also teaches, "Without faith, it is impossible to please Him." As children of God, we must cultivate and strengthen our faith. Over the next 14 days, Pastor Justin Bridges will lead us through Hebrews 11, showing us how to apply faith in our lives and how to live victoriously by faith, just like those heroes of faith who went before us.
