A Year in Luke/ActsSample

We see at the end a small paragraph about the church sending aid to Judea for a famine that had not happened yet. I find this last bit to be unexpected in its meaning.
The social weather towards giving is very dim in today’s Western church. We are deprioritizing giving to the church and tiptoeing around talking about it.
The need was not even realized in this passage, but prophecy was enough for the believers to entrust Paul and Barnabas with their resources. This heart is where we should be giving. It shouldn’t be from this reluctance but rather an eagerness to give to the people of God.
Do you believe in the mission of your church? If so, entrust them with your resources and be fully invested. What a selfless way to love your people and be an image-bearer of Christ!
