The Bible OverBrew - Bible in a Year

DAY 142 OF 365

Week 21. Day 2. Jeremiah 33-38.

You may wish to spend more time in ch 33, as it it continues the promises of the new covenant, even if you then read more quickly throgh ch 34-38.

Ch 33 This chapter adds to the promises of hope, by promising a restored Davidic kingship, and restored priesthood. God’s people cannot be in right relationship with him, nor enjoy his blessings fully, without a king in David’s line to lead them, and without priests to enable relationship with God. Both of these are, of course, fulfilled in Jesus who is both king and priest.

Are there any verses / ideas in this chapter that you find particularly precious?

Jer 34-38 Last days of Jehoiakim and Zedekiah

As you read these chapters, look for different ways God’s word is rejected

Ch 36 What does King Jehoiakim do as God’s word is read to him?

Ch 38 Jeremiah thrown into a well. Note how a faithful prophet is treated. Why?

NOTE: Days 1-5 of each week contain the scripture reading for that week. Day 6 has just the 'key chapters'. If you want a briefer version of this plan that still takes you through the whole Bible, you could just read the key chapters featured on day 6. Day 7 has the podcast video where we discuss the week's reading.

About this Plan

The Bible OverBrew - Bible in a Year

The Bible OverBrew is a friendly virtual book group, helping you read the Bible in big chunks, preferably with a mug of tea! Maybe you've tried to read through the Bible before, but gave up when it felt confusing or too intense? We are here to help you! We provide notes and questions to guide your reading, and note ‘key chapters’ if you don’t have time to read it all. In our podcast at the end of each week we draw out the key themes, and how it all points to Christ. We’d love you to join us!
