Where We Are Going

God sovereignly chose the prophet Isaiah to warn the Israelites that their idolatry and disobedience would lead to punishment through attacks from Assyria and Babylon. Amid these difficult words, Isaiah writes that the “stump” left after Israel is “chopped down” would become a “holy seed” (Isaiah 6:13). Approximately 700 years after Isaiah penned this promise, a baby boy was born in Bethlehem (Isaiah 7:14). This baby would grow to be a powerful Lion from the tribe of Judah and would willingly allow Himself to be the sacrificial Lamb for all humanity (Revelation 5:5-6).

In the Child of the King Bible study, we will take a closer look at four titles ascribed to Jesus in Isaiah 9:6-7:

Week #3) Everlasting Father

Week #4) Prince of Peace

Prayerfully, as we closely examine the Prince who was born on Christmas Day over 2,000 years ago, we will develop a deeper understanding of how belief in His life, death and resurrection secures our adoption as children of the one true King!

How Does God Help When Things Are Hard?:

1) He Carries The Load

Jesus came into the world to do what we could not do for ourselves. God’s standard was made clear in the law given to Moses, but humanity failed to meet that standard for over 1,000 years. Jesus, the Son of God, came to carry the load we were unable to bear by living a perfect life, fully obedient to God’s will. In our everyday lives, we can pray and ask God to carry every hardship we face, knowing that He offers rest for our souls (Matt. 11:28-30).

2) He Corrects With Love

During Jesus’ ministry, He constantly coached and corrected His followers. Rather than shaming them, He would instruct them by setting the example for righteous living. Today, God still corrects His children through conviction from the Holy Spirit. As we study God’s Word, pray and surround ourselves with godly people, He lovingly guides us in the purpose and plan He has for us.

3) He Commits His Life

Not only did Jesus live a perfect life while guiding God’s people, He sealed His mission by paying the price for our sins through laying down His life on the cross. When morning dawned on Sunday, He had defeated death through resurrection. No matter the hard situation we’re facing, God is more than able to shine light in the darkness!
