Prayer 101Sample

Prayer 101

DAY 5 OF 8

Prayer is meant to be consistent.

Matthew 6:11 says, “Give us this day our daily bread.” All of us want a God-empowered, fruitful life. If we want a life empowered by God, we have to live a life connected to Him. Staying connected is daily. We are called to toil in His Strength (Colossians 1:29). He wants us to walk in His divine Guidance, wisdom, strength, and blessing, but we can’t have that without Him. God wants to meet us in prayer every day. Matthew 6:11, “Give us this day our daily…” Jesus is expecting us to spend daily time in prayer. What we schedule tends to happen, what we don’t tends to get missed.

Pastor Willie George compared prayer to working out and said it this way, “the less consistent you are, the less consistent you will be. Those who have a set time to go to the gym or to pray are consistent by the plan. Those that come in sporadically are inconsistent and become infrequent.”

If you haven’t yet, set a time to be on purpose with prayer. A daily alarm on your phone is a great way to become consistent. Most of us set out with great intentions, but if we don’t put a reminder in place, it just slips away. Being intentional and setting up a consistent time to pray is one of the first steps to becoming a person of prayer. Intentionality will help build consistency, and the consistency will produce impact.

Sometimes we don’t see things happen as fast as we would like in prayer. This is when consistency really helps us. Galatians 6:9 says, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up. Don’t give up in prayer. Especially when praying for the lost to come to know the Lord. The amount of people who come to the Lord after years of being prayed for is amazing. Today, let us partner with God in praying for the lost.

I pray for _____ who needs to know You;

That the Lord of the harvest would send laborers to reach _____with the gospel that is the power of God to salvation. Luke 10:2, Romans 1:16

That the light of Christ would shine on _____ whose mind has been blinded by the god of this age and would open their hearts to receive the love of God. 2 Corinthians 4:4, 6

That _____ be filled with a love of the truth and a revelation of Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2:10, 3:5

Grant _____ repentance so that they may know the truth; come to their senses, and escape the snare of the devil who has taken them captive to do his will. 2 Timothy 2:25, 26

You desire for all, including _____, to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth! Thank You for drawing them to You today. Thank You, Jesus, for coming so they might have life and have it more abundantly! 1 Timothy 2:4, John 3:16, John 10:10

Give _____ a heart to know what Christ did for them, that they may turn to You with their whole heart and know You as their Father. Jerimiah 24:7
