In verses 4-6, Paul emphasizes God's sevenfold oneness, which is likely an interpretation of the Shema (the Lord is one) in Deuteronomy 6:4. The Old Testament is very much still relevant in light of the gospel, and by referencing it here, Paul demonstrated that we can view its beauty and truth through the lens of the new covenant.
As Paul instructed believers to maintain unity in Ephesians 4, he also noted the oneness/unity of God as we see the Trinity in these verses––the Spirit (v. 4), Jesus, our Lord (v. 5), and God the Father (v. 6).
