Now Is The Time: Acts Children's JourneySample
Day 12
Talk to God
“God, I thank You for including people from different backgrounds in your family.”
Read the Bible
Acts 11:1-18
Read these verses carefully to see why Peter is telling his story.
Think About It
The followers of Jesus in Jerusalem heard that Peter had gone to the house of Cornelius who was a Gentile. They also heard that Cornelius and some other Gentiles believed in Jesus. When Peter came to visit them in Jerusalem they talked to him about these things. They were upset because they didn’t understand that God’s plan was for everyone to come to Jesus, not just Jews. Peter told them everything that had happened, and then they understood. They were happy to know that God welcomes believers from different backgrounds into His family. Aren’t you thankful that God invites everyone to come to Him?
Christian—a person who believes in Jesus Christ and follows His teachings.
Do Something About It
- If you believe in Jesus, will you tell God “thank you” for welcoming you into His family? You can write a “thank you” prayer to God right now.
- Take time to pray and ask God to help more people around the world hear how they can believe in Jesus.
If you read more of Acts chapter 11, you’ll discover where followers of Jesus Christ were first called Christians. What is the name of the city? (Hint: The city's name is seven letters long.)
