9 Days of Gratitude and ThankfulnessSample
God Is Omnipotent
When talking about God’s Character, three words can be applied when describing God: Omnipotence, Omnipresence, and Omniscience.
Over the next three days, we’ll take a deeper look at each of these characteristics of our Lord.
Omnipotence means that God is All-Powerful. No one or thing will ever be more powerful than God. When we say “God Almighty”, we are referring to Him as God the Omnipotent One! In his book, The Knowledge of the Holy, A.W. Tozer says of God’s Omnipotence, “To reign, God must have power, and to reign sovereignly, He must have all power. And that is what omnipotent means, having all power.”[1]
“Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things.”
-1 Chronicles 29:11
Nothing is outside of God’s ability. He is the Creator of all things, and no one or thing can exercise any amount of power over Him.
How comforting to know that the God of the Universe is greater than any evil or darkness in this world. He is triumphant over death and destruction. He is your Protector and your Healer. He invites you into a relationship with Himself and provides Eternal Life through His Son, Jesus. The God of the Universe, who is greater than everything, has set you apart and calls you His child! What a beautiful reason to be thankful for God’s Omnipotence!
Father, it is so comforting knowing that You are All-Powerful! Your children take great confidence in knowing that You are our Mighty God, and no one is greater than You! Thank You for loving me and setting me apart for Your Kingdom. I praise You because everything in the Heavens and on Earth is Yours! Amen.
Journal Writing/Prayer Prompt:
List the things in your life that are challenging right now. Understanding that God is All-Powerful, fill in the blank in this sentence for each challenge: If God is All-Powerful, then ______ will not defeat me.
Write your prayer of thankfulness in advance for the victory He will have in the challenges you’re facing. Include your past challenges where you saw His Power triumph.
