Daily Bible Reading— October 2024, God’s Guiding Word: Justice and PeaceSample

October 22
Introduction
Isaiah 59:1–21: Today’s reading begins with the prophet providing a catalog of the people’s sins. The people confess their sin, and the LORD prepares to rescue them.
Today’s Key Verse: Isaiah 59:21a
[The LORD says]: “I make a covenant with you: I have given you my power and my teachings to be yours forever.”
Reflect
What sins does the prophet bring to the people’s attention (verses 1–8)? How do the people respond (verses 9–11)? What do the people confess (verses 12–15)? Reread verse 21. What does it mean to you to be in a covenant relationship with God? According to verse 21, what does God require?
Pray
Lord God, you have given us your teachings. Help me to obey you and teach others about you and your everlasting love. Reign in my heart forever. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
Amos 1:1–15: The prophet proclaims God’s judgment on Israel’s neighbors.
