The Parable of the Ten MinasSample

The Parable of the Ten Minas

DAY 6 OF 6

The final judgment

“But as for these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slaughter them before me.” (Luke 19:27)

Today we read the horrifying conclusion of Jesus' parable. When the king was traveling, a group of citizens tried to prevent his kingship. Not from reasonable motives, but because they hated him. Their attempt failed, but the king had not forgotten their rebellion. He ordered that these people be put to death.

The application of this part of the parable leaves little to be clarified. It is a serious warning to all who will not acknowledge Jesus as King. Those who reject and oppose Him can expect the death penalty. Paul says of this, “They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His might” (2 Thessalonians 1:9). So they will get what they themselves have sought: eternal separation from King Jesus. But that will be terrible.

Jesus' parable makes it clear that it is very important how we spend our time on earth until He will return. How we respond to the Gospel is crucial; for our own lives and the lives of others.

How are you dealing with the “mina” you have been given? Are you a faithful servant of the Lord?

Thank you for completing this reading plan. We hope you were encouraged to serve Jesus every day! We invite you to learn more about Him in one of our e-courses, or to find your questions answered on our homepage www.biblword.net

Day 5
